Capitalism, Communism and The Domino Theory

Firstly I am going to explain the differences between Capitalism and Communism.

Communism is a political ideology where everyone is equal and all profits made go to the government to help the country, whereas Capitalist is a political ideology where people can make money through their own businesses and they can use their money on what they want. It is basically every man for himself.

Communism is most closely related with USSR   And Joseph Stalin

Capitalism Is Most Closely assocoiated with USA  and Richard Nixon

The Cold War

The Cold War is the only War ever where no shots were fired. It was a constant struggle for power between the two superpowers of the world USA and USSR. It is different from a normal war because there wasn't an actual war, it was just a power struggle over the course of 1945-1989.

The Domino Theory

The Domino Theory is the theory that if one country like Vietnam becomes Communist then it will have a domino effect on all the other countries around Vietnam and they will become Communist.

The Cartoon is a take on the Domino Theory saying that if Vietcong soldiers make Vietnam Communist and this will have the 'Domino Effect on other countries. But on the end of these dominoes there is an American soldier stopping the Domino Effect from working.

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=rpY562-RAzIC&pg=PA82&dq=ocr+why+had+international+peace+collapse+by+1939

The link above is from the OCR History textbook, it is very helpful and includes pictures for easier understanding.

Neville Chamberlain

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/chamberlain_arthur_neville.shtml

This is a good link because it is from a reliable source, has pictures and wil not be biased. This has a good explanation of Chamberlain and what he did.

http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/PRchamberlain.htm

This is another good link which contains pictures and has good information on Chamberlains life from his childhood. You can also count on it not bieng biased and there are also pictures of Chamberlain.

Appeasement

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeasement

This may be a good source but people can edit this website anytime so it may be biased or wrong. There are pictures and other links at the bottom of this page which makes it quite good as a whole but a little untrustworthy.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/history/mwh/ir1/chamberlainandappeasementrev1.shtml

This will be quite a reliable website by the BBC and there are several links but it is not completely about appeasement becuase Neville Chamberlain is in this piece aswell.

Munich Agreement

http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/2WWmunich.htm

This is from a reliable unbiased source and it contains several pictures, this is a fantastic piece to revise from.

http://www.johndclare.net/RoadtoWWII5_Munich_Agreement.htm

This does tell you a lot about what happened but it does not contain any pictures which can help you understand the text better, overall a good piece to revise from but not as good as the spartaus link.

The Rise Of Hitler

http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/year9links/hitler.shtml

This has several good links to go to from the main page about Hitler and it will help me for revision.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/worldwars/wwtwo/hitler_01.shtml

This is a very reliable source and it has no bias and has several pictures to understand the text better.

Causes Of WW2

http://www.historyonthenet.com/WW2/causes.htm

This is very detailed explanation of how WW2 began and its causes. It has several pictures to help understand the text and is a very reliable source.

http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/causes_world_war_two.htm

This is quite a good piece although not as good as the first link. It has quite a good explanation of the causes of WW2 but no ictures to help you.

Hitler says 'Always use these links when revising'!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Rise Of Hitler

Hitler said that he would rip up the Treaty Of Versialles and restore Germany to it's former glory.
He said he would get revenge on all the countries that made Germany suffer.
He promised help for practically all the people in Germany. People in Germany didn't really like Jews and Hitler really didn't like them, this made people vote for Hitler.
People were scared of Communists and the Communist Party so this made them want to vote for Hitler even more. He promised 'Lebensraum' for all Nazis. This meant more living space for pure Aryan people.
In conclusion I think Hitler scared the German people into putting him into power. His popularity with Aryan people also was a big reason he came to power.
Hitler promised to the Nazis that ' They would be superior to the Jews. Aryans would be given more space and everyone else was racially impure comapred to the Aryans.

The Wall Street Crash

This picture shows that there is no end to the crash Of Wall Street and that it will be going on in circles constantly unless sonething drastic is done. It also mens that other countries would be poorer because of America's downfall in The Wall Street Crash.

Wall Street Crash

This was the worst money Crisis the world had ever seen. The Stock market went down for over a month.

This crash made almost every nation in the world affected in a bad way, everyone but The Soviet Union because their main money income was not world trade.

By 1932 the Depression was in full swing and some Americans were practically living in poverty. 13 million people were unemployed. One family even went as far as to live ina cave in Central Park.

The crash had a huge affect on the League Of Nations and I think that The Wall Street Crash and The Great Depression was one of the biggest factors in the end of The League Of Nations. They meant that The League were not concentrating fully on the worlds problems and thye were too much concentrating on the Crash, this may have been the main key to the Manchurian and Abyssinian Crisises because they happened during the Great Depression.

Here are some pre Wall Street crash notes I found:

  1. As early as 1926, there were signs that the boom was under threat - this was seen in the collapse of land prices in Florida.
  2. Eventually, there were too many goods being made and not enough people to buy them.
  3. Farmers had produced too much food in the 1920s, so prices for their produce became steadily lower.
  4. There were too many small banks - these banks did not have enough funds to cope with the sudden rush to take out savings, which happened in the autumn of 1929.
  5. Too much speculation on the stock market - the middle class had a lot to lose and they had spent a lot on what amounted to pieces of paper.
  6. The Wall Street Crash of October 1929 was a massive psychological blow.
  7. America had lent huge sums of money to European countries. When the stock market collapsed, they suddenly recalled those loans. This had a devastating impact on the European economy.
  8. The collapse of European banks caused a general world financial crisis.

The Great Depression and The Crash left a huge hole in American income and power.
